CLINTON, Miss. – The MEMA/FEMA disaster recovery center for Adams County, located at Parkway Baptist Church, 117 Seargent S. Prentiss Drive, Natchez, will remain open through Wednesday, Sept. 26.

After that date, people affected by Hurricane Isaac can register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.

Other ways to get assistance include:

  • By phone, call 800-621-FEMA (3362) from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily;
  • By smartphone at m.fema.gov;
  • TTY 800-462-7585; and
  • Video Relay Service, call 800-621-3362.

Louisiana Major Disaster Declaration Amended to Include Individual Assistance

WASHINGTON – Today, FEMA announced an amendment to the major disaster declaration for the State of Louisiana to include the Individual Assistance Program. 

Federal funding is available to affected individuals in Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. John the Baptist, and St. Tammany parishes.  Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, and uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and households recover from the effects of the disaster.

Individuals and households who sustained losses in the designated county can begin applying for assistance by registering online at http://www.disasterassistance.gov, by web enabled mobile device at m.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.  The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice.

Federal Coordinating Officer Gerard M. Stolar said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.

On Wednesday, the President declared a major disaster declaration for the State of Louisiana for emergency work and hazard mitigation.

St. Thomas’ King Airport Open for Normal Operation; St. Croix’s Rohlsen Airport Set Passenger Check-in for 10 AM Today

The Virgin Islands Port Authority announced today that the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas is open and processing passengers as normal. The Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix is also open, however, passenger check-in was set for 10 a.m. today. VI Port Authority received the following cancellation information as of 10 a.m. today: 

American Airlines – canceled today’s flight to Miami from St. Thomas and today’s midday flight from St. Croix to Miami.

LIAT, Ltd., – canceled all flights to St.Thomas on Wednesday. Flights have not resumed. 

Cape Air – canceled all flights as of 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, and all of today’s flights.

Seaborne Aviation canceled flights between St. Croix and St. Thomas on Wednesday. Services have not resumed as 10 a.m. today.

VI Port Authority will continue to update the community as flight information becomes available.

The VI Port Authority is advising travelers to call their airline directly for flight schedule information.

FEMA Mitigation Specialists to Answer Questions in Hillsborough, Pasco Counties

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency and local stores are teaming up this week to provide information and advice on cleaning up and rebuilding homes after Tropical Storm Debby.

FEMA mitigation specialists, who can explain disaster-resistant ways to repair and rebuild, will be in Hillsborough County beginning Wednesday, Aug. 8, and Pasco County beginning Friday, Aug. 10.

Mitigation specialists offer suggestions on cleaning mold and mildew. They also provide information on flood insurance.

The specialists will be available to answer questions at Lowe’s from Wednesday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, and Monday, Aug. 13, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The address is 1515 E. Brandon Blvd in Brandon.

They will also be available at the USA Fleamarket at 11721 U.S. Highway 19 in Port Richey from Friday, Aug. 10, through Sunday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

FEMA Mitigation Specialists to Answer Questions in Highlands, Hillsborough and Polk Counties

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency and home improvement stores are teaming up to provide information and advice on cleaning up and rebuilding homes after Tropical Storm Debby.

FEMA mitigation specialists – who can explain disaster-resistant ways to repair and rebuild –  will be in Highlands, Hillsborough and Polk counties beginning Wednesday, July 25.

Mitigation specialists offer suggestions on cleaning mold and mildew. They also provide information on flood insurance.

The specialists will be available for questions at the Disability Expo and Public Forum on Wednesday, July 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is located at the County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa.

They will be in Highlands County from July 25 to July 30 at the Home Depot in Sebring at 2303 U.S. 27 N. The outreach hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The outreach continues Aug. 1 to Aug. 6 in Polk County at the Lowe’s in Bartow at 425 E. Van Fleet Drive. The hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
