They are currently at Do-It-Best Hardware in Chalan Kiya, meeting with customers and providing booklets and pamphlets on how to build back stronger to be safer in the next storm. They are in the store from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays, and will continue there through Friday, Oct. 23.

Starting Saturday, Oct. 24, they will be at Ace Hardware on Middle Road in Gualo Rai during the same hours through Nov. 7. The store is in the Europa Plaza, behind the Pizza Hut and First Hawaiian Bank

FEMA Mitigation updates its Outreach schedule

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Athens in Limestone County will become an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center at the same location beginning Friday, June 13, at 9 a.m.

The SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Both FEMA and SBA staff will be on hand.

The center is located at the Ripley Woodmen of the World Hall, 11281 Ripley Road, Athens, AL, 35611.

After the FEMA center becomes an SBA center, survivors will still be able to contact FEMA online at DisasterAssistance.gov, via smartphone at m.fema.gov or by phone at 800-621-3362; TTY 800-462-7585.  Multilingual operators are available.

The deadline for individuals to register for federal disaster assistance and to apply for SBA disaster loans is July 1, 2014.

The SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations to repair or replace uncompensated losses. The SBA may lend up to $200,000 to repair or replace homes and up to $40,000 to repair or replace personal property.

Loans to businesses, including nonprofits, are available up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster damaged real estate, and other business assets.  Eligible businesses and non-profits can apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster.

The deadline to apply for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan applications is February 2, 2015.

Recovery Center in Limestone County to become SBA Disaster Loan Center June 13

AURORA, Ill. – The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located at the Lisle Police Department, 5040 Lincoln Ave., Lisle, IL 60532, will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) beginning Monday, June 17, 2013.

At the DLOC, SBA customer service representatives will issue disaster loan applications, answer questions about SBA’s disaster loan program, explain the application process, help individuals complete their application and close their approved disaster loans.

“At this stage in the recovery process, the emphasis for assistance is to meet long-term needs of survivors,” said W. Michael Moore, the federal official in charge of disaster recovery. “We believe the transition of the DRC to an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center will better meet the current needs of residents.”

The Lisle DRC was opened May 16, to provide one-stop disaster assistance information to individuals and business owners who suffered damage during the April 16 to May 5 severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding.

“Just because the Lisle DRC has closed does not mean FEMA is leaving. There will continue to be FEMA representatives in the DLOC to answer questions about individual assistance and mitigation,” added Moore.

Hours of operation at the DLOC will be Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice.

It is not necessary to visit a DRC to register with FEMA. Individuals can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or via web-enabled phone at m.fema.gov. Applicants may also call 800-621-3362 or (TTY) 800-462-7585. People who use 711-Relay or Video Relay Services (VRS) can call 800-621-3362. FEMA DRC Transitions to SBA Center

TRENTON, N.J.–Two FEMA-State disaster recovery centers will transition to Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Centers this weekend.

The disaster recovery center at the Hudson County Government Building in Jersey City will close Friday, April 26. The center at the Ocean City Community Center in Ocean City will close Saturday, April 27. Both will transition and reopen Monday morning, April 29, as SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers.

State and federal officials have been paying close attention to how many applicants are visiting disaster recovery centers throughout the state. Over the past weeks, the number of individuals seeking help at the Jersey City and Ocean City centers has dropped, indicating the information needs of survivors in the area have mostly been met.

SBA representatives at the Disaster Loan Outreach Center will provide homeowners, renters, business owners and nonprofit organizations with face-to-face service in answering questions about SBA’s low-interest disaster loan programs, completing loan applications, checking the status of applications and closing on SBA loans.

The SBA outreach centers will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.

Those in the Hudson County area who want to visit a disaster recovery center can go to the Monmouth County disaster recovery center at:

FEMA staff is available at all the centers to provide clarification to FEMA letters, assist survivors with finding a temporary home if their primary residence was damaged or destroyed, check on the status of their application for assistance or refer survivors to other agencies that may provide additional help.

Also, survivors can consult with Small Business Administration customer service representatives about low-interest disaster loans to repair or rebuild their home and FEMA mitigation specialists about cost-effective rebuilding and repair techniques to reduce property damage in future disasters.

Survivors are reminded that May 1, 2013 is the last day to register for federal disaster assistance with FEMA.

Hudson, Cape May Disaster Recovery Centers To Transition This Weekend To SBA Loan Outreach Centers

WINDSOR, Conn. – Outreach teams from FEMA will be at The Home Depot stores in East Haven, Fairfield and Orange this weekend to explain techniques that may reduce potential damage to homes, businesses and property from future storms and flooding.

Mitigation specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will offer “how-to” information for retrofitting buildings and elevating utilities. Specialists can also provide cleanup tips for removing mold and mildew from a storm-damaged home.

FEMA teams will be at the following locations from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, and Sunday, Dec. 16:

  • The Home Depot – 541 Kings Highway Cutoff, Fairfield, CT 06824

Information will include instructions on how to:

 

  • Relocate circuit breaker panels, outlets and switches above potential floodwaters;
  • Move washer and dryer hookups to a higher floor;
  • Elevate furnaces and water heaters; and
  • Prevent sewer backups with a backflow valve.

WARWICK, R.I. – The State-FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in Westerly and Middletown will close permanently on Friday, December 7, at 6 p.m. The Recovery Center in Westerly will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Center starting on Monday. Hours and locations are

Rhode Islanders affected by Hurricane Sandy do not need to visit a Recovery Center to register for or receive  disaster aid. Registration for federal disaster assistance remains open until January 14, 2013.

The Disaster Recovery Centers are staffed with specialists from various federal, state and local agencies and organizations who can provide information about federal disaster assistance and other recovery programs.

The U.S. Small Business Administration provides low interest disaster recovery loans to homeowners, businesses of all sizes and nonprofit organizations. Homeowners may borrow up to $200,000 to cover disaster recovery costs not covered by insurance. Homeowners and renters alike may borrow up to $40,000 to repair or replace furniture, appliances, cars and clothing damaged or destroyed in the disaster. Businesses of any size and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery, equipment, inventory and other assets. 

Specialists at the S.B.A. Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Westerly starting Monday can answer questions about disaster recovery loans and provide assistance with applications.

FEMA’s temporary housing assistance and grants for medical and dental expenses, funeral and burial expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, applicants who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA loan officers to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses.
