JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Two home improvement stores in Jefferson City are teaming up with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide local residents with free information, tips, flyers and brochures to prevent and lessen damage from disasters. 

FEMA mitigation specialists will be available over the next five days to answer questions and offer home improvement tips on making homes stronger and safer against disasters. Most of the information is geared toward do-it-yourself work and general contractors.

Advisers will be available March 17-21 at the

    • Hours:
      • Thursday through Saturday and Monday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
      • Sunday 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Franklin and Jefferson County Centers Open to Help Missouri Flood Survivors

NORTH LITTLE ROCK – The disaster recovery center in Jefferson County will be closed this weekend, July 25 and 26, 2015 and then close permanently at the end of the business day on Wednesday, July 29.

The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. After business hours and after the center closes, the toll-free Helpline, 1-800-621-3362, is still available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time).

The center provides help to those whose homes or businesses were affected by the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding during the period of May 7 to June 15, 2015.

Representatives from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration and other agencies are at the center to explain disaster assistance programs and help survivors apply for aid.

Storm Survivors Can Register for Assistance Online 24/7; No Change to Holiday Hours for Phone Lines

 

FRANKFORT, Ky.  – A second disaster recovery center operated by the commonwealth of Kentucky and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will open at noon Monday, May 18, in Jefferson County.

The new Jefferson center will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (EDT) weekdays and Saturday. It is located at 205 W. Wellington Ave. (Beechmont Community Center) in Louisville. The other Louisville center is located at 8501 Preston Highway and has the same hours of operation.

Specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on the types of assistance available to survivors.

Survivors who suffered losses in Bath, Bourbon, Carter, Elliott, Franklin, Jefferson, Lawrence, Madison, Rowan and Scott counties can receive person-to-person assistance from specialists skilled in many disaster-related subjects.

Specialists can help with registration, check an individual’s case, answer questions about an application or review information needed to process an application.

Survivors who sustained losses from the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, landslides and mudslides April 2 through April 17, 2015, should register for assistance before visiting a center.

Survivors can register by using the following methods:

Second Disaster Recovery Center To Open In Jeffferson County

ATLANTA – Federal disaster assistance is now available to eligible government entities and certain private non-profits in Hardin County, Tenn., for eligible damages from the severe winter storm of Feb. 15 -22.

Hardin County joins the list of 35 other counties already receiving assistance as a result of the presidential disaster declaration signed April 2, 2015.

The county was added to the declaration following new damage assessments requested by the state, and conducted by local officials, representatives of Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Previously declared counties include: Anderson, Bedford, Bledsoe, Blount, Campbell, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, Fentress, Giles, Grainger, Grundy, Hamblen, Hancock, Hardeman, Jefferson, Knox, Lawrence, Loudon, Marshall, McMinn, McNairy, Meigs, Monroe, Moore, Morgan, Obion, Overton, Putnam, Roane, Scott, Sevier, Van Buren, Warren and White.

The federal assistance will allow eligible government entities and certain private non-profits in the declared counties to apply for reimbursement of specific expenses related to disaster response and recovery under the FEMA’s Public Assistance Program. 

The Public Assistance Program provides a 75 percent funding reimbursement for costs related to debris removal, emergency protective measures, and rebuilding and repairing roads, bridges, water control facilities, buildings, utilities and recreational facilities.

FEMA may pay, through its Individuals and Households program, up to 18 months of rental assistance to both homeowners and renters if they need to relocate while repairs are being made to their disaster-damaged residences.

Residents of Baldwin, Blount, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Lee, Limestone, Mobile and Tuscaloosa counties who suffered storm damage during the period April 28 through May 5 should apply for assistance by registering online at DisasterAssistance.gov, via smartphone at m.fema.gov or by phone at 800-621-3362, TTY 800-462-7585.  Multilingual operators are available.

An application for continued temporary housing will be sent to applicants who have received initial rental assistance approximately two weeks after the first rental award.

The deadline for registration for disaster assistance is July 1.
