BATON ROUGE, La. – Nov. 29 marks a milestone for Louisiana’s Hurricane Isaac recovery: it’s the registration deadline for homeowners, renters and business owners who sustained storm damage, and the closing date for the state’s remaining two Disaster Recovery Centers.   

The two State/FEMA centers are located at 2654 Jean Lafitte Blvd., Lafitte, LA 70067 in Jefferson Parish, and 1931 W Airline Hwy, La Place, LA 70068 in St. John Parish. Hours for both centers are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials stress that communication channels will remain open for Hurricane Isaac survivors even after that date.

“Louisianians can still contact us with their questions or concerns,” said Federal Coordinating Officer Gerard M. Stolar. “Even after Nov. 29, we remain committed to helping survivors here until they have received all the state and federal assistance they are eligible for.”     

Louisianians can register until Nov. 29 online at www.disasterassistance.gov, via smartphone at m.fema.gov, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585.  Those who use 711 Relay or Video Relay Services may call 1-800-621-3362. FEMA phone lines operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week; non-English speakers may receive assistance in the language of their choice by pressing Option 3 when prompted. This is also how applicants can stay in touch with FEMA.

WINDSOR, Conn. — A FEMA-State Disaster Recovery Center will open in East Haven, Friday, Nov. 23, from noon to 8 p.m. The center will also be open Saturday, Nov. 24, and Monday, Nov. 26, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

NEW YORK – Today, FEMA announced an amendment to the major disaster declaration for the State of New York to include the Individual Assistance program for four additional counties.

Federal funding is available to affected individuals in Orange, Putnam, Sullivan and Ulster counties. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, and uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and households recover from the effects of the disaster.

Individuals and households who sustained losses in the designated counties can begin applying for assistance by registering online at www.disasterassistance.gov, by smartphone at m.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.  The toll-free telephone numbers will operate 24 hours, seven days a week until further notice.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Homeowners, renters and business owners in Cleveland and Creek counties who sustained damage due to the Aug. 3-14 wildfire have until Nov. 21 to apply for disaster assistance.

“Registration is the first step in the process, but time is running out,” said State Coordinating Officer and Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) Deputy Director Michelann Ooten. “We want everyone who is eligible to receive assistance as soon as possible.”

“To date, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided more than $6.7 million to help people in Cleveland and Creek counties whose property was damaged or destroyed, and whose losses are not covered by insurance or other forms of assistance,” said FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer William J. Doran III. “If anyone has suffered losses or damages as a result of the wildfire and has not yet registered for assistance, I urge them to register before time runs out.”

Loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for disaster-related losses of real and personal property must also be submitted by Nov. 21. The SBA provides low-interest disaster loans to qualified homeowners, renters and certain private non-profit organizations and businesses of any size that sustained uninsured or underinsured losses due to the disaster.

Only Two Weeks Remain to Apply for Disaster Assistance

CLINTON, Miss. – State and federal officials will continue to assist with Mississippi’s Hurricane Isaac recovery long after registration closed in October.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and FEMA are assisting with the repair and rebuilding of public infrastructure damaged in Hurricane Isaac. FEMA provides 75 percent of the cost to repair or rebuild eligible infrastructure while the state and applicant provide the remaining 25 percent. FEMA has provided nearly $4.3 million to the state since the storm for infrastructure projects.

MEMA and FEMA will remain available to help survivors, local governments, volunteer agencies and other interested parties to continue the state’s recovery.

For answers to disaster assistance questions, Hurricane Isaac survivors can call the toll-free Helpline at 800-621-3362 or visit FEMA online at DisasterAssistance.gov. WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to the State of New Jersey and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by Hurricane Sandy beginning on October 26, 2012, and continuing.

The President’s action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Atlantic, Cape May, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Union counties.

Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.        

Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for debris removal and emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance, for Atlantic, Cape May, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Union counties.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

Michael J. Hall has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area.  Hall said damage surveys are continuing in other areas, and more counties and additional forms of assistance may be designated after the assessments are fully completed.

President Declares Major Disaster for New Jersey

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the State of Florida to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by Hurricane Isaac during the period of August 27-29, 2012. 

Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by Hurricane Isaac in Bay, Collier, Escambia, Franklin, Gulf, Martin, Monroe, Okaloosa, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, and Santa Rosa counties. 

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures for all counties and tribes within the state.

Gracia B. Szczech has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area.  Szczech said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today, the deadline to apply for disaster assistance in both Cleveland and Creek counties is being extended to Wednesday, Nov. 21.

“We want to make sure that all eligible residents have enough time to apply for assistance,” said State Coordinating Officer and OEM Deputy Director Michelann Ooten. “The two counties were not declared at the same time. That is why we are extending the deadline.”

“We hope this additional time will ensure that every one in Cleveland and Creek counties affected by the wildfires has an opportunity to register for state and federal assistance,” said Federal Coordinating Officer William J. Disaster Assistance Deadline Extended

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will  continue to provide application assistance to those impacted by the Aug. 3-14 wildfire in Cleveland County at the recovery center in Noble; however, the hours of operation will change beginning Friday, Oct.12.

The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at Twelve Corners Baptist Church, 15601 E. Etowah Road will open and close one hour later to accommodate the needs of the applicants. The new hours are: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday – Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The center will officially close Saturday, Oct. 20.

To date, 132 Cleveland County residents have visited the center to register for assistance, update their information or to speak with representatives from OEM, FEMA and SBA who provided recovery information, answered questions about available programs and assisted with applications.

As of close of business Oct. 10, FEMA provided nearly $1.4 million in grants to help Cleveland County residents recover from the wildfire. Assistance is available to help with temporary housing, emergency home repairs or other serious disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance or other sources.

Visiting a center is not required to be considered for assistance. It is provided to assist those who would like help in filling out forms, checking the status of their claim and even registering. It also provides an opportunity to speak face-to-face with representatives from OEM, FEMA, SBA and others.

There are several ways for homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and nonprofit organizations to register for FEMA’s disaster assistance or check the status of a registration. They include registering online at www.disasterassistance.gov, using web-enabled phones at m.fema.gov or the FEMA app, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585.
