DENVER – All Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) will be open on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11.

On Monday, Nov. 11, the hours of operation will change at all DRCs except one.

  • New hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., MST, and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., MST, for DRCs in Boulder, Estes Park, Evans, Longmont, Loveland and Lyons.
  • The Colorado Springs DRC at the Security Fire Department, 400 Security Blvd. will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., MST, through Saturday, Nov. 9, when it will close permanently.

NFIP Proof of Loss Claims Due By Nov. 14

DENVER—National Flood Insurance policyholders whose homes or other structures were damaged by flooding have until November 14, 2013, to file claims for their losses.

A Proof of Loss form includes detailed estimates of the cost to replace or repair damaged property.

Proof of loss substantiates the damage claim and is required before the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) can make payment. File damage claims with your NFIP insurance company and work with your adjuster to get the proof of loss forms.

If owners notice additional damage to buildings or property, they can file supplemental claims. To do this, immediately notify the insurance adjuster, document the newly discovered damage, then repeat the documentation and filing process used on the original claim. Owners are urged to keep a copy of this packet.

SBA’s Colorado Disaster Loans Pass $42 million

DENVER – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has now approved more than $42 million in disaster loans to Colorado homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private, nonprofit organizations.

Approved loan totals in some of the most impacted areas are currently over $27 million in Boulder County, $4.9 million in Larimer County and $6 million in Weld County.

The more than $42 million approved so far to survivors with losses from Colorado storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides breaks down this way:

  • $37.5 million in loans to repair and rebuild homes
  • $4.8 million in business and economic injury loans

Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are available to small businesses having difficulty meeting obligations as a result of the September severe weather and floods, as well as private nonprofits, even if property was not physically damaged.

Deferred Disaster Loan Payments

The first payment for a disaster loan is due on the fifth month from the date of the loan closing.

The deadline to apply for a SBA disaster loan is November 14, 2013 for physical damage and June 16, 2014 for Economic Injury Disaster Loans.

A simple and fast way to complete the application is online, using the SBA’s electronic loan application. Go to DisasterLoan.SBA.gov/ELA.

SBA’s Colorado Disaster Loans Pass $42 million

Disaster Recovery Centers in Galena and Fairbanks Transition Update

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The State/Federal Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Galena and Fairbanks will close August 9 and transition to weekly visits to Galena and Fairbanks by FEMA caseworkers to meet the disaster-assistance needs of survivors of the 2013 Spring Floods.

Both Disaster Recovery Centers will cease operations at noon Friday, Aug. 9, 2013.

Until then, the centers will continue to provide face-to-face help from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The Galena DRC is located in the Galena Interior Learning Academy, 359 Challenger Road.

The Fairbanks DRC is located at 751 Old Richardson Hwy., Suite 202.

It is not necessary to visit a DRC to register with FEMA. Those with losses due to flooding between May 17 and June 11, 2013, in the Regional Educational Attendance Areas (REAAs) eligible for Individual Assistance can continue to register by telephone or online through Aug. 26, 2013.

The eligible REAAs are Alaska Gateway, Lower Yukon, Yukon Flats and Yukon-Koyukuk.

Those who have registered can continue to receive information and update their applications by telephone, mobile device or online.

  • Block and lot number
  • A telephone number where you can be contacted
  • Insurance information
  • Total household annual income
  • A routing and account number from your bank (only necessary if you want to have disaster assistance funds transferred directly into your bank account). Look up your bank routing number.
  • A description of your losses that were caused by the disaster.

FEMA disaster assistance may include awards to help pay for housing, replace personal property and other serious disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance. Assistance may also include low-interest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The deadline to register for an SBA disaster loan is also Aug. 26, 2013.

SBA offers disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private, nonprofit organizations for their uncompensated losses. Homeowners can receive loans up to $200,000 to repair or replace their primary residence. Homeowners and renters can receive loans up to $40,000 to replace personal property. Businesses may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace their disaster-damaged property and/or economic losses.
